FO: Skating Sweater

Skating Sweater
Pattern | Twinkle's Big City Knits
Yarn | Rowan Big Wool

Finally, a FO! This sweater was a fun, quick knit (in theory). If it hadn't taken me two months to finish the collar and sew the pieces together, it would have been finished in two days... Oh well, guess I must wait until the cold weather returns to sport my new sweater.

I would have liked to use Twinkle Soft Chunky, but the yarn is absolutely impossible to find around here. Although not quite as thick as the Twinkle yarn, Rowan Big Wool was a nice substitute.

As you can probably see, the arms came a little shorter than I would like. I followed the measurements in the pattern, and was skeptical as I saw the finished product materialize, but I decided to listen to Ms. Chia since she knows a lot more about chunky knits than I do. Should have trusted my instincts... Even so, I think the 3/4 sleeves look nice.

Gorgeous Sweater Kelliann! I love that purple, can you say how many skeins did you use and what size did you knit?

why yes, yes.

I was going to make the extra small, but I was a little off on gague (I'm a tight knitter) so I made the small to make up for it. When you're knitting 2 stitches per inch, even a little bit off makes a big difference.

I juuust barely used 4 skeins of yarn. I probably could have done with three if I was more economical with sewing and ends.

Ms. Chia probably does know about chunky knits, but I think her editors introduced more mistakes than they corrected. So maybe it was another error!

I'm currently knitting this in soft&chunky eggplant so it'll be pretty much the same color. It looks so good on you! I will have to take note on the sleeves - I want full length because I really like 3/4 and have lots of sweaters and cardis with them :) Stupid me knitted at first waaay too tight, I only have 10mm circulars and didn't knit loose enough, so I was finished with the body when I tried it on and it fitted like a sausage. The size M probably came out xs hehe :) So I unraveled the whole day's work and started over.
I know you knit this a long time ago, how has it been to wear?
