the sweater dress

The most essential item for this fall! And thank goodness - nothing sounds better than wearing a sweater all over my body. Rebecca Taylor has so many gorgeous styles, all of which I'd like to knit.

if love was a sweater...

THIS would be it.

I must own this. I will own this. If only... I could knit it. {sigh}

Since both of my large projects are nearly finished, my search for the next great pattern pushes on. I want to do something similar to this sweater by Mint:

And I believe I've found something pretty darn close! Debbie Bliss comes through for me again (seriously, I love her) with the new Cashmerino Collection. Not only do I think the pattern is cute, but the thought of working with DB's cashmerino - mmmmm!

I would probably add a few inches to the length of the sleeves and the body.  And the color?  I'm not sure yet, but definitely not brown.  I'll have to check out the new colors for fall.

Ahhhh, a new knitting obsession.... almost as good as developing a crush!

(did I really just say that?)

oh yes, I ROCK.

I forgot! Becky-Dee nominated me as a Rockin' Girl Blogger. I'm very flattered. Thank you!

My favorite blogs to read at the moment are:

1. Another Shopgirl
2. Team Knit
3. Skrilla Knits

Visit their sites! I'm sure you'll love them too.

knitspiration?

I have a problem.

I am in lovelovelove with SO many of the knit sweaters and coats coming out this season. But sadly, I am very much NOT in love with all the knitting patterns/magazines I've seen. This is why:

VOGUE KNITTING: Two hundred and forty pages! Sixty styles! (Including the 10 BEST DESIGNS EVER!) I was anxious, to say the least, about the treasures that I felt sure must lay within. Sadly, half the pages are advertisements, and the other half are hideous sweaters from the early '90s that belong on no one's knitting needles this decade or last.

PHILDAIR: Lame. Guess I'll just have to wait and hope that the winter issue makes up for what this issue lacks.

INTERWEAVE: Maybe it's just not my style, but I rarely find anything in this magazine that I would knit. I know lots of people love it, and I really do give it a chance! Maybe one of these days... I must admit that this issue is better then its predecessors, due greatly to Eunny Jang, I believe.

Okay... I know... hardly any of the fall/winter issues are even out yet! Maybe I'm jumping the gun with my criticisms. Maybe it's less that these designs are so bad, and more that I like these sweaters so much more than what I've been seeing in knitting patterns:

Both sweaters are from Free People. The military style and shaping of the first sweater looks very flattering. And the second has a modern Audrey Hepburn air about it that is showing up everywhere this season.

There are also so many adorable sweater dresses around like the one above from Rebecca Taylor.

If only I knew more about designing sweaters/had more knitting experience, I'd be knocking off these suckers in a heartbeat!

Despite my lack of posting, lots of knitting has been going on. I should have some FO's very soon! Here is a sneak peak of one nearly complete capecho...
